Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and Camden Police
Executive Robert L. Stewart reported today that a Lindenwold man
was shot to death last night in Camden, NJ.
Camden
Police were dispatched at 10:38 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2006,
to the area of 8th and Chestnut streets for the report of a person
shot. Officers arrived to find Anthony L. Brown, 34, lying in the
middle of Chestnut Street. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds
to the body and head and died a short time later at Cooper University
Hospital.
Investigation
indicates the victim conversed with a suspect just prior to the
shooting. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and fired multiple
shots from short range, striking the victim. The suspect then fled
on foot heading south on 8th Street, investigation indicates.
The
suspect is described as an African-American male with a beard, tall
in height and heavily built, wearing a dark jacket and brown knit
hat.
No
arrests have been made. An investigation is continuing by the Camden
County Prosecutor's Office and Camden Police.
