CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
JAMES P. LYNCH, ACTING CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA INFORMATION

March 23, 2006

Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and Cherry Hill Police Chief Charlie Jones reported that detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a woman whose body was found this morning in her home in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Family members found the victim, Rasheedah McEady, 39, in her bedroom at 1 Perot Ave. at approximately 6:45 a.m. and called Cherry Hill Police. Camden County Medical Examiner Gerald Feigin performed an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as a stab wound to the upper body and the manner of death as homicide.

The victim’s three children, ages 8 to 16, were home when the victim was discovered. A teenage friend of the family was also at the home. One of the minors found the victim when they entered her room because she was not responding to her ringing alarm clock.

McEady was the owner/operator of one or more daycare centers in South Jersey. Family members last saw her alive on Wednesday night, March 24. There were no signs of forced entry.

No arrests have been made. An investigation is continuing by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Cherry Hill Police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit at (856) 225-8400 or Cherry Hill Police Detectives at (856) 488-7833.
