Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and Gloucester City Police Chief William G. Crothers reported that detectives are investigating the slaying of a woman found dead today inside an apartment in the 300 block of North Burlington Street in Gloucester City, N.J.

Gloucester City Police went to the apartment at approximately 7:30 a.m. today after a man reported that his attempts to reach the woman were unsuccessful and that he believed she was in the apartment. After knocking and receiving no response, officers forced the door and found the victim. Her identity has not been positively determined.

An autopsy determined the victim suffered multiple blunt force injuries to the head and multiple stab wounds to the upper body. A precise time of death could not be determined, but it is believed the victim was killed sometime over the weekend.

An investigation is continuing by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Gloucester City Police.
