Media Releases:
CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA INFORMATION
March 17, 2006
New Jersey Attorney General Zulima V. Farber announced today that
she has appointed First Assistant Camden County Prosecutor James
P. Lynch to serve as Acting Camden County Prosecutor, effective
today.
The
resignation of Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi becomes
effective today. Until a permanent Prosecutor is appointed to a
five-year term, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office will
operate under the authority of Attorney General Farber. For that
reason, Lynch was sworn in today as a Special Deputy Attorney General/Acting
Camden County Prosecutor.
Lynch
was sworn in this morning by Superior Court Judge Lee A. Solomon.
Judge Solomon also administered the oath of office to the office’s
62 Assistant Prosecutors. They will serve as Special Deputy Attorneys
General/Acting Assistant Camden County Prosecutors until a new Prosecutor
is nominated by Gov. Corzine and confirmed by the New Jersey Senate.
Also
today, Acting Prosecutor Lynch swore in the 107 members of the Prosecutor’s
Office investigative staff, including investigators and superior
officers, as Special State Investigators.
Lynch
has served as First Assistant Camden County Prosecutor since 1996.
Prior to that, he served as First Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor
from 1994 to 1996 and as an Assistant Camden County Prosecutor from
1982 to 1994. He served as Acting Prosecutor in June and July 2002
before Sarubbi was sworn in to the post.
“James
Lynch is a veteran prosecutor and strong manager who has served
before as Acting Prosecutor,” Attorney General Faber said.
“I
am most grateful to the Attorney General for placing her trust and
confidence in me,” Lynch stated. “Members of the Camden
County Prosecutor’s Office enjoy a longstanding reputation
for fairness, professionalism and dedication to serving the interests
of the public. We will all do our best to carry on this tradition
of excellence.”
