MEDIA INFORMATION

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that two men are being held in
lieu of bail on Felony Murder charges, accused of participating
in the armed robbery and fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in
August 2005, in Camden, N.J.
Corey K. Manderville,
28, of Camden, and Lawrence Willis, a.k.a. “Lawrence Williams,”
a.k.a. “Reds,” 28, of Berlin, are charged in the killing
of Dewey A. Marshall, 22. The victim was shot on Aug. 29 at the
Tamarack Apartments on Ferry Avenue in Camden and died on Aug. 31
at Cooper University Hospital.
It is alleged that Willis and Manderville were among
four men who participated in the planning and carrying out of the
robbery and slaying. The investigation continues and additional
arrests are possible.
Superior
Court Judge Linda G. Baxter, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division
in Camden, set bail on Tuesday at $600,000 for Willis and $500,000
for Manderville.
Investigation
indicates that Marshall was inside his unit when there was a knock
at the front door and someone kicked the door off its hinges. During
a struggle, multiple shots were fired and Marshall was struck once
in the head. He collapsed outside the apartment building. The suspects
then fled the area in a vehicle.
All
persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless
and until proven guilty in a
court of law.
