CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

January 26, 2006

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi announced that a man faces up to life in prison after a jury found him guilty today of Murder in an April 2003 fatal shooting in Camden, N.J.

Jurors also found the defendant, Lance L. Bean, 23, guilty of weapons offenses in connection with the shooting death of Donald Sanders, 29, of Clementon, on the night of April 16, 2003, in the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive. Superior Court Judge John T. McNeill III is scheduled to sentence Bean on March 17, 2006.

Bean was arrested on April 25, 2003, outside the Aspen Hill Apartments in Deptford, where he lived at the time.

Testimony from witnesses presented by Assistant Prosecutor Tracy Cogan indicated that Bean shot Sanders because he believed the victim was attempting to sell narcotics on the Lakeshore Drive drug set Bean controlled. Sanders died from numerous gunshot wounds from two different guns.

Sarubbi commended Cogan, the Homicide Units of the Prosecutor's Office and the Camden Police Department, as well as the Crime Scene Investigations Unit in the Prosecutor's Office, for the successful investigation and prosecution of a dangerous individual
