Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported that a defendant is being held on $450,000
cash bail, charged with killing a man found shot to death in a car
on Thursday, Jan. 12, in Camden, N.J.
Sylvester Hamblin, 38, of Camden, is charged with Felony Murder,
accused of fatally shooting David Rivera Gonzalez, 31, of Delran,
during the early morning hours Thursday.
Gonzalez's body was discovered at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the driver's
seat of his red Lexus, which was parked in the 1900 block of South
4th Street in South Camden. A Camden County Sheriff's Officer driving
in the area noticed the body inside the vehicle, observed signs
of injury, and notified Camden Police. The victim had suffered two
gunsot wounds to the head and was dead at the scene.
It is alleged that Hamblin shot Gonzalez through an open front window
and then robbed the victim of cash.
Hamblin remains incarcerated at the Camden County Correctional Facility
in lieu of bail set during an arraignment today before Superior
Court Judge Samuel D. Natal.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
