MEDIA INFORMATION
January 6, 2006
Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa announced today that the family of Antwon Beatty
has posted a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest
and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Beatty's
death on Dec. 26, 2005, in Camden, N.J.
Sarubbi and Figueroa also asked for the public's assistance in identifying
a suspect on a video surveillance recording that shows the fatal
shooting.
The officials said the decision to release the video came after
discussions among investigators and prosecutors and only after consulting
with the family of Beatty, who was 33 at the time of his death.
Also known as Antwon Williams, he lived in Magnolia.
"While the video is disturbing, we felt strongly that we had to
use every means at our disposal to bring the killer to justice,"
Sarubbi stated. "Now we are asking for anyone who believes they
have information that could be helpful to the investigation to call
the Prosecutor's Office or the Camden Police Department."
Beatty was shot multiple times at 23rd and Federal streets on Monday,
Dec. 26, 2005, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Officers responding to
a call reporting a man shot arrived to find Beatty lying in the
driveway of the East Coast gas station. No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Camden County Prosecutor's
Office at (856) 225-8400 or Camden Police Detectives at (856) 757-7420.
