MEDIA   INFORMATION

July 29, 2005

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa announced today that a 21-year-old man was charged with Murder on Thursday, July 28, 2005, in connection with a fatal shooting on July 19 in Camden, N.J.

John Burgos, of the 2800 block of Cushing Road in Camden, was charged while he was in the Camden County Correctional Facility, where he was placed on July 27 after being arrested on outstanding unrelated traffic warrants. An arraignment is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. today before Presiding Criminal Division Judge Linda G. Baxter in Courtroom 33 of the Camden County Hall of Justice, 5th Street and Mickle Boulevard, Camden.

It is alleged that Burgos shot and killed Harold E. Fussell, 38, also of Camden, while the victim was walking on the sidewalk in the first block of North 24th Street, near Federal Street, at approximately 11:10 p.m. on July 19. The motive for the shooting is unclear.
