Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that a 38-year-old man was shot
to death late Tuesday night, July 20, 2005, in Camden, N.J.
Harold E. Fussell, a city resident, was shot while on the sidewalk
in the first block of North 24th Street, near Federal Street, at
approximately 11:10 p.m. Tuesday. Camden Police responding to a
report of an individual shot arrived to find the victim lying on
the sidewalk. He was dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Fussell was walking with
at least one other individual when someone fired at him at close
range and fled on foot. The motive for the shooting is unclear.
Detectives are investigating whether it was drug-related. No arrests
have been made.
