Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported that a 13-year-old Camden boy was killed
and two other teenagers from the city were injured in a one-car
crash on Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Camden, N.J.
Laquan Taylor, of the 700 block of Morgan Boulevard, was killed
when a 1995 Honda Accord crashed into a four foot, metal and concrete
pole barrier in the 1400 block of River Road at approximately 12:16
p.m. Sunday. Two other male juveniles in the vehicle sustained injuries
and remain hospitalized - a 17-year-old who suffered minor head
injuries and a 14-year-old who suffered a serious head injury and
two broken femurs. Initial investigation indicates the vehicle was
traveling south on River Road well in excess of the posted 25 mph
speed limit.
It is unclear at this time which occupant was driving. The vehicle,
owned by a resident of Williamstown, N.J., was reported stolen from
the Cherry Hill Hilton parking lot on Route 70 in Cherry Hill on
Friday, July 8, 2005.
The two surviving juveniles were both charged with receiving stolen
property. Their names are being withheld because of their ages.
An investigation continues by the Camden Police Department and the
Camden County Prosecutor's Office and its Crash Response Investigation
Team. Additional charges are possible.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Prosecutor's Office
at (856) 225-8400 or Camden Police Detectives at (856) 757-7420.
