Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported that a 25-year-old Camden man was arrested
this morning on a charge of Felony Murder stemming from the fatal
shooting and robbery of Salvador Martinez, 20, on May 22, 2005,
in Camden, N.J. A second man wanted in the slaying is being sought,
the officials announced.
Lance Lamar Alford, of the 300 block of South 30th Street in Camden,
is being held in the Camden County Correctional Facility in lieu
of $350,000 bail pending a formal arraignment scheduled for tomorrow,
July 8, 2005, at approximately 9:30 a.m. before Superior Court Judge
Samuel D. Natal in Courtroom 56 of the Camden County Hall of Justice,
5th Street and Mickle Boulevard, Camden. Members of the U.S. Marshal's
New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Alford
at his home at approximately 6 a.m. today.
Authorities are seeking Ziair T. McDaniels, 24, of Morse Street
in Camden, who is also charged with Felony Murder in the case. He
is described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds,
with black hair and brown eyes. See photo below.
Investigation indicates the two defendants approached the victim.
It is alleged that one pulled a handgun and shot Martinez, who fell
to the ground, at which time the other rifled through the victim's
pockets. Both defendants then allegedly ran from the scene.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
