Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported that a 19-year-old Camden man was charged
with Murder today, accused of fatally shooting Charles Raikes, M/23,
early Saturday morning, June 11, 2005, in Camden, N.J.
Authorities are seeking the public's help in locating Theends L.
Brown, a.k.a. "Mookie," formerly of the 1500 block of Wildwood Avenue
in Camden. He is described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-9
and 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. See photo below.
At 3:22 a.m. Saturday, Camden Police responded to a call reporting
a man shot in Farnham Park off the 1500 block of Park Boulevard.
Arriving officers found the victim, of Pennsauken, suffering from
a single gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to
Cooper University Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Investigation indicates that the victim and the defendant had an
ongoing dispute over money. It is alleged that after the two engaged
in a fistfight, Brown pulled a handgun and shot Raikes once in the
chest.

of the Prosecutor's Office at (856)225-8400 or Camden Police Detective
