CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

May 21, 2005

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported that a 26-year-old woman was struck and killed by a stray bullet this afternoon while driving her car in the area of 5th and Line streets in Camden, N.J.

Investigators believe that Nadira Hinson, of Camden, was not the intended target of the shooting. Preliminary investigation indicates the following:

Hinson was driving a Mitsubishi Mirage east on Line, crossing 5th Street. The shooter was on 5th Street south of Line and fired at another individual on 5th. Hinson was struck once and died at the scene.

Her car traveled about 60 feet and crashed into a home on Line.

There were no other injuries reported. Hinson’s three small children, who were in the car, sustained no apparent injuries.

No arrests have been made. An investigation continues by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden Police Department.

“I ask anyone in the community who has any information on what happened to an innocent victim this afternoon to come forward and help us arrest whoever committed this callous crime,” Sarubbi said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Prosecutor’s Office at (856) 225-8400 or Camden Police Detectives at (856) 757-7420.
