CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA INFORMATION
May 7, 2005
Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Gloucester City Police
Chief William Crothers reported that a Gloucester City man was arrested
today and charged with Murder in the strangulation death of his wife.
David Henry, 42, of the 1400 block of Thompson Avenue, is being held
in the Camden County Correctional Facility pending an arraignment
expected to be scheduled on Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Camden County
Hall of Justice in Camden.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the home at approximately
10 p.m. on March 29 for the report of a respiratory emergency. Jacquelin
Henry, 45, was found lying on the floor unresponsive. She was transported
to Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, where she was pronounced
dead at 10:44 p.m.
Camden County Medical Examiner Dr. Paul Hoyer performed an autopsy
and determined the manner of death as strangulation and ruled the
cause of death as homicide. Dr. Hoyer noted bruising on the victim’s
neck.
Investigation indicates that Jacquelin Henry was strangled to death
by means of a ligature. Investigation further indicates that David
Henry and his wife were the only people at the home at the time of
the death. There were no signs of forced entry or a struggle. Medical
responders reported that the victim’s body was perfectly straight,
with legs together and arms by her side - highly unusual for someone
reported to have collapsed.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless
and until proven guilty in a court of law.
