Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported that a 16 year old Camden juvenile was arrested today and charged with Manslaughter, accused of assaulting, Eleazar E. Pineda, a 36 year old homeless man and causing his death.

The Defendant is being held in the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center. A juvenile detention hearing will be held at 9:00 am Monday, April 4, 2005 in Family Court of the Camden County Hall of Justice, 5th Street & Mickle Boulevard, Camden.

It is alleged that on March 6, 2005, at approximately 4:10 pm, the Juvenile suspect punched Mr. Pineda in the head causing the victim to fall to the ground and hitting his head on the concrete, resulting in his death on March 8, 2005. Sarubbi and Figueroa credited the lead detectives in the case, Senior Investigator Diane Wilson of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and Camden Police Detective Eric White, for developing the evidence that led to today's arrest.
