Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi, Camden Police Chief Edwin
J. Figueroa, Gloucester Township Police Chief John Stollsteimer, New
Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Rick Fuentes and Gloucester
City Police Chief William Cruthers announced today that two suspects
were arrested on Monday, March 29, 2005, and charged with drug offenses,
including Narcotics Trafficking and Maintaining a Drug Manufacturing
Facility. Each offense is a First Degree crime carrying a maximum
sentence of 20 years. The third man has not been apprehended and is
a fugitive.
Elias Vasquez, 20, of 248 South Broadway, Gloucester City was being
held at the Camden County Corrections Facility in lieu of $250,000.00
Cash or bond. Andre Morales, 32,of 248 South Broadway. Gloucester
City New Jersey was also being held at the Camden County Corrections
Facility in Lieu of $100,000.00 Cash or Bond.
The third suspect, Francisco Morales, 30, of 1 Wilcox Lane Blackwood,
New Jersey. Francisco Morales the alleged leader of this Drug Trafficking
Organization, which ranks as one of the top ten Drug Operations in
the City of Camden, has not yet been arrested. The Prosecutors Office
is asking the publics help in supplying any information that can help
them in apprehending this individual. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task
Force is also involved in the search for this suspect.
The arrests were the result of a Six-month investigation. The operation
was carried out by an array of agencies that make up the Philadelphia/Camden
High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force and they include
the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, Camden Police, New Jersey State
Police, Camden County Sheriff's Department, and DEA. Their efforts
have been supplemented by the, U.S. Marshal's Office, and other federal,
state and local agencies.
This investigation led to the seizures of 1376 bags of Crack Cocaine,
which is approximately thirteen ounces of cocaine, worth approximately
a street value of $13,760.00 and Twenty Thousand Nine Hundred and
Seventy Five Dollars in cash. The arrests and seizure took place at
the, Gloucester City, residence.
The three suspects in this case were allegedly supplying several open-air
drug sets in the City of Camden with Crack Cocaine. This Drug Trafficking
Organization is alleged to be the remnants of a drug organization
allegedly run by Raymond Morales who is awaiting trial in Federal
Court on cocaine distribution charges. Defendant Andre Morales is
the brother of Raymond Morales.
Prosecutor Sarubbi said: " These recent arrests constitute a serious
setback to the Camden drug trade. Through the efforts of all the agencies
involved the HIDTA partnership we are continuing the fight against
drugs to make Camden a better and safer city."
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless
and until proven guilty in a court of law.
