U.S. Marshal for New Jersey James Plousis, Camden County Prosecutor
Vincent P. Sarubbi, New Jersey State Police Superintendent Col. Rick
Fuentes and Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that
the U.S. Marshal's New Jersey/New York Regional Fugitive Task Force
on March 23, 2005, arrested a man wanted by the Baltimore Police Department
for Murder and by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms
for weapons trafficking.
Investigation led Task Force members to the 100 block of Eutaw Street
in Camden, N.J., where they found Vance White, 25, formerly of Baltimore,
and arrested him at approximately 7:20 p.m. Wednesday without incident.
Recovered at the scene were 114 bags of crack cocaine and a loaded
.357 Magnum.
White, a.k.a. James Bowens, is charged in Camden County with Possession
of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with
the Intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School, Possession
of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute within 500 feet of a Park,
as well as weapons charges and a Fugitive from Justice charge. He
is being held in the Camden County Correctional Facility. The ATF
has placed a detainer on White for gun trafficking charges out of
Baltimore, meaning he cannot be released on bail.
Each of the drug charges carries a maximum sentence of five years
in New Jersey State Prison upon conviction. The weapons offenses carry
a maximum sentence of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless
and until proven guilty in a court of law.
