CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

March 13, 2005

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that a 25-year-old man whose car crashed into a parked vehicle last night in Camden had suffered a gunshot wound. He died at Cooper University Hospital a short time after the collision.

Hakeem Saulters, 25, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that collided with a Mercedes Benz parked in the 300 block of Berkley Street at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2005. The owner of the Mercedes was in his home nearby, heard the collision and called police. Officers responded and determined that the Monte Carlo's driver had been shot in the head. It appears the shot was fired through the driver’s side front window.

No one else was believed to be in either vehicle.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing. Detectives believe the shooting may have been drug-related.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Senior Investigator Jeff Long of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office at (856) 225-8400 or Camden Police Detective Frank Ruiz at (856) 757-7420.
