CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA INFORMATION
February 15, 2005
Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that one man was killed and a second
man was injured in a shooting last night in the Fairview section of
Camden, N.J.
Keith Scott, 33, of Camden, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was
dead at the scene. The other victim is also a 33-year-old male resident
of Camden who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized
at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. His name is being withheld
because of his status as a victim and witness in the case.
At approximately 6:33 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, Camden Police
were dispatched to the 3000 block of North Merrimac Road for a report
of shots fired. Officers arrived to find Scott unresponsive in the
driver's seat of a parked, late model Pontiac Grand Am. Other officers
located the second victim nearby in the 1300 block of Argus Road.
He was rushed to Cooper, where he was treated and listed in stable
condition this morning.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Scott and the second victim
were standing by the car when several males in dark clothing approached
on foot and shots were fired. Scott jumped into the driver's sear
and attempted to drive away but was shot and killed. The second victim
began to run and was struck in the back. The suspects left the area
on foot.
No arrests have been made. An investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information is urged to call Senior Investigator Ron Moten
of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 225-8400 or Camden
Police Detective Wayne Matthews at (856) 757-7420. All information
will be kept confidential.
