VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA INFORMATION
January 4, 2005
Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that a city resident was shot to
death late on Monday night, Jan. 3, 2005, in Camden, N.J.
Camden Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Sheridan Street
at approximately 11:05 p.m. last night. Officers arrived to find Bryheem
Baylock, M/18, lying on the sidewalk in front of his home. He had
suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and was dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Baylock was standing in front
of his home when a male suspect in dark clothing and a hat approached
on a bicycle and fired multiple rounds from a handgun. The victim
ducked behind a car but was struck by a bullet. The shooter then pedaled
away down Sheridan Street.
No arrests have been made and the motive is unclear at this time.
Anyone with information is urged to call Senior Investigator Ron Moten
of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 225-8400 or Camden
Police Detective Wayne Matthews at (856) 757-7420. All information
will be kept confidential.
