CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

May 24, 2004

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Acting Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that a 35-year-old man was shot to death on Sunday, May 23, 2004, in the Centennial Village housing complex in the 1200 block of East State Street in Camden, N.J.

Charles E. Tokley, of the first block of South 27th Street in Camden, was shot at approximately 12:28 p.m. Sunday during a brawl among a group of about a half dozen men. Preliminary investigation indicates the fight apparently stemmed from a dispute that arose during a basketball game at a nearby court several days earlier. Tokley was rushed to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he was pronounced dead at 6:20 p.m. Sunday.

No arrests have been made. An investigation continues.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Investigator Matt Woshnak of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 225-8400 or Detective Isidoro Reyes of the Camden Police Department at (856) 757-7420.
