MEDIA   INFORMATION

April 22, 2004

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Acting Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that Kazeem O'Bryant, M/25, was shot and killed early today in the 500 block of Spruce Street in Camden, N.J.

O'Bryant, of the 1800 block of South 8th Street in Camden, had just exited the Off Broadway Lounge at and was standing in front of the tavern at approximately 2:45 a.m. when an individual approached the victim on foot and fired, investigation indicates. O'Bryant was hit at least once in the head. The shooter then fled on foot. The victim was dead at the scene.

A second individual was also seen running from the scene in the direction taken by the assailant shortly after the shooting. No further descriptions are available.

A Ford Bronco parked outside the bar was hit by stray gunfire. A stray bullet also shattered the tavern's glass front door. It is unclear if any or all of those shots were fired by the same suspect.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Investigator Randall McNair of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit at (856) 225-8400 or Camden Police Det. Wayne Matthews at (856) 757-7420.
