VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

April 16, 2004

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Acting Camden Police Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that Uton Francis, M/33, was arrested on Thursday, April 15, 2004, in Columbus, Ohio, on drug distribution charges. Francis is a "Most Wanted" fugitive, charged with Murder in the March 1995 shooting death of Lynwall G. Williams, M/30, in Camden, N.J.

Narcotics agents arrested Francis in Columbus after a long-term investigation. Officers seized approximately 375 pounds of marijuana. Francis, whose last known local address was in the 1300 block of Park Boulevard in Camden, is being held in the Franklin County (Ohio) Jail on the drug charges, the Murder warrant and a warrant charging him as a Fugitive from Justice. It is unclear at this time when he will be transported to Camden County.

Williams, of the Bronx section of New York City, was shot multiple times at Mount Ephraim and Liberty avenues in Camden at approximately 2:30 p.m. on March 19, 1995. The victim was standing at the intersection when a vehicle, which Francis allegedly was driving, pulled up, and the passenger fired at Williams.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
