Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Acting Camden Police
Chief Edwin J. Figueroa reported today that Uton Francis, M/33,
was arrested on Thursday, April 15, 2004, in Columbus, Ohio, on
drug distribution charges. Francis is a "Most Wanted" fugitive,
charged with Murder in the March 1995 shooting death of Lynwall
G. Williams, M/30, in Camden, N.J.
Narcotics agents arrested Francis in Columbus after a long-term
investigation. Officers seized approximately 375 pounds of marijuana.
Francis, whose last known local address was in the 1300 block of
Park Boulevard in Camden, is being held in the Franklin County (Ohio)
Jail on the drug charges, the Murder warrant and a warrant charging
him as a Fugitive from Justice. It is unclear at this time when
he will be transported to Camden County.
Williams, of the Bronx section of New York City, was shot multiple
times at Mount Ephraim and Liberty avenues in Camden at approximately
2:30 p.m. on March 19, 1995. The victim was standing at the intersection
when a vehicle, which Francis allegedly was driving, pulled up,
and the passenger fired at Williams.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
