CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

March 17, 2004

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi reported that a 17-year-old defendant pleaded guilty today to Aggravated Assault in connection with the beating of a fellow student at Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, N.J., on Feb. 27, 2004.

Raul Negron, M/17, admitted today before Superior Court Judge Louis F. Hornstine that he repeatedly punched the 18-year-old victim in the face and threw him to the floor. The assault, which took place in a gym locker room, caused the victim to lose consciousness briefly and required that he be hospitalized.

Hornstine sentenced Negron to two years in the state's juvenile corrections facility in Jamesburg.

"We are pleased we could bring this matter to an appropriate resolution quickly," Sarubbi said. "Our schools are no place for this type of violent conduct."
