CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

March 17, 2004

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi announced today that sentencing is scheduled for May 28, 2004, for a judiciary account clerk who pleaded guilty to Theft, admitting that he stole court-ordered child support payments.

Christopher Bak, M/53, of the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue in Magnolia, admitted stealing $500 between September 2003 and November of 2003 from monies he collected in Camden County for child support payments.

Bak pleaded guilty to the fourth-degree charge on March 16, 2004, before Superior Court Judge Marvin E. Schlosser, Presiding Criminal Court Judge in Mount Holly, Burlington County. The case was assigned to Burlington County to avoid any potential conflict of interest because the defendant has worked in the Camden County court system.

The theft came to light when discrepancies surfaced during a routine audit of payment records by the Administrative Office of the Courts, which employed Bak.

The plea agreement calls for Bak to be sentenced to non-custodial probation, to pay restitution and to forfeit public employment for life, effective on March 16.
