March 1, 2004

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden City Police Department Acting Chief Edwin Figueroa reported today that Abismal Arroyo 18 year old male of 529 N. 9th Street Camden, N.J. is currently being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility in relation to the shooting death of Elsa Olah 62 year old female. The shooting occurred in the 500 block of north 9th street Camden New Jersey at approximately 11:53 am on February 28, 2004.

Preliminary investigation revealed the defendant alledgedly fired a handgun at several unidentified individuals. Elsa Olah, 62 who lives at 118 N. 3rd street, Camden, New Jersey,is believed have been an unintended victim. She was struck in the torso by an errant bullet. Immediately after, Elsa Olah was taken to Cooper Hospital by way of an unidentified person(s) where she was listed in critical condition. This morning March 1, 2004, at approximately 2:44 am she was pronounced dead.

Arroyo has been charged with Aggravated Assault, a crime of 2nd degree, which carries a sentence of five to ten year incarceration. Arroyo has also been charged with the 2nd degree crime of possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose which carries a sentence of five to ten years incarceration. The defendant is held in the Camden County Correctional Facility on $100,000.00 full cash bail regarding the Aggravated Assault charge and $10,000.00 full cash bail on the weapons charge.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Prosecutors Office. Additional charges are pending and include the charge of Homicide.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
