Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi, Acting Camden Police Chief Edwin Figueroa and State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes reported today that 13 people were arrested on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, in Camden, N.J., in a series of undercover narcotics targeting alleged drug dealers.

The undercover drug buys were conducted at seven different locations in Camden between 1:35 p.m. and 4:56 p.m. Thursday. The arrestees included four juveniles, whose names are being withheld because of their ages.

The operations were a cooperative effort of an array of law enforcement agencies that make up the Philadelphia/Camden High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA) and the Camden Anti-Crime Partnership (CAP). The task forces consist of personnel from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, Camden Police, New Jersey State Police, New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, Camden County Sheriff's Department, FBI and DEA. Their efforts have been supplemented by the U.S. Attorney's Office, U.S. Marshal's Office, and other federal, state and local agencies.

  • Arrested at approximately 1:35 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Tulip Street was Damon G. Williams, M/28, of that block, for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine and related charges.
  • Arrested at approximately 2:15 p.m. at Alabama Avenue and Yorkship Square was Aaron C. Bethea, M/22, of the 3100 block of West Ironside Road, on a charge of Obstruction of Justice for allegedly interfering with officers conducting the operation.
  • Arrested at approximately 2:50 p.m. in the 1500 block of Louis Street were Stephanie L. Taylor, F/21, of the 1300 block of Sheridan Street, for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana; and a 15-year-old male charged with Distribution of Crack Cocaine.
  • Arrested at approximately 3:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of Mount Vernon Street were Angie Parker-Robinson, F/31, of the 1000 block of Kenwood Avenue, and Michelle C. Brooks, F/34, of the 600 block of Royden Street. They were charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine.
  • Arrested at approximately 3:45 p.m. at 7th & York streets were Daniel Granele, M/22, of the first block of Lakeside Drive in Marlton; Angel R. Arocho, M/21, of the 600 block of Elm Street; and a 16-year-old male, of the 900 block of Elm Street. They were charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin and related charges.
  • Arrested at approximately 4 p.m. at 2nd and Front streets were a 14-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both of the first block of York Street. They were charged with Distribution of Marijuana.
  • Arrested at approximately 4:56 p.m. at 3rd and Beckett Streets were William J. Woods, M/23, of the first block of Yorkshire Road in Sicklerville; and Harry D. Smalls, M/33, of the 1100 block of North 31st Street in Camden, charged with Distribution of Heroin.

The adult defendants were placed in the Camden County Correctional Facility in lieu of bails ranging from $1,500 to $50,000. The juveniles were sent to the Camden County Youth Center pending Family Court hearings.

The adult defendants face maximum New Jersey State Prison sentences of between 18 months and 15 years. The juvenile defendants face maximums of between one and two years if adjudicated delinquent in Family Court.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
