Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Lindenwold Police
Chief Francis A. McHenry reported today that Melvin Clark, M/25,
was arrested today on a Murder charge in connection with the fatal
shooting of Maurice Develle Thomas, M/20, on Jan. 22, 2004 in Lindenwold,
N.J.
Clark, a.k.a. "Manny," surrendered today accompanied by his attorney,
Patricia A. Darden. He is being held in the Camden County Correctional
Facility pending an arraignment scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29,
2004, at 10:45 a.m. in Courtroom 33 of the Camden County Hall of
Justice, 5th Street and Mickle Boulevard, Camden.
Lindenwold Police received a 911 call at approximately 11:01 p.m.
on Jan. 22 reporting shots fired at the Green Tree Apartments on
Gibbsboro Road. Officers arrived to find the victim lying on the
floor of unit 1504. Thomas had been shot multiple times in the upper
body and was dead at the scene.
The investigation indicates that Clark was among four men who went
to the apartment intending to rob Thomas. Troy Broadway, 28, the
alleged shooter, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 23 in Barrington.
Another co-defendant, Rahsann Riley, 22, was arrested on Friday
in Lawnside.
A fourth man, Morris Forrest Broadway, 26, is being sought. Broadway,
of the first block of Peoria Lane in Sicklerville, is described
as a black male, approximately 5-foot-7 and 175 pounds, with black
hair and brown eyes. He is Troy Broadway's brother.Broadway's photo

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
