CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

January 9, 2004

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi announced that Luis Solar, M/26, of the 500 block of Pfeiffer Street in Camden, N.J., pleaded guilty today to Aggravated Manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Andres Camacho, M/44, on Sept. 24, 2001, at 28th and Mickle streets in Camden.

Camacho, of the unit block of Leonard Street, Camden, was shot multiple times at approximately 11:34 p.m. while sitting in his Mazda pickup truck. The victim then fled in his truck and crashed into a fence at 2935 Federal Street.

Solar admitted before Superior Court Judge John T. McNeill III that he approached the victim's vehicle and fired multiple shots from a handgun at the truck.

Assistant Prosecutor Joel Aronow will recommend that Solar receive a 15-year term in New Jersey State Prison - including 85 percent, or 12 years and nine months, to be served without parole eligibility - when Judge McNeill sentences the defendant on Feb. 20, 2004.
