CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

April 22, 2003

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Acting Camden Police Chief Edwin Figueroa reported today that investigators are seeking the public's assistance in finding the people responsible for two apparently unrelated homicides recently in Camden.

In one case, the victim, Christino Hernandez, M/64, of the 3100 block of Merriel Avenue, died Saturday night, April 19, 2003, at Cooper Medical Center in Camden. He had been assaulted at approximately 5 a.m. on April 15, 2003, in the area of Westfield Avenue and Church Street. The Camden County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death to be a skull fracture.

The investigation indicates the victim was beaten by two male suspects, possibly during the course of a robbery.

In the second case, officers responding to a report of shots fired arrived in the 1200 block of Morton Street at approximately 4:20 a.m. today to find the body of Derrell Miles, M/18, of 209 Branch Village. He had been shot to death.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 225-8500 or Camden Police at (856) 757-7400.
