Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi announced that Edward A. Pine 3rd, M/27, of the 1600 block of Cedar Avenue in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, was indicted today by a Grand Jury on charges of Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery, and weapons offenses in connection with an alleged assault against his girlfriend on Aug. 12, 2002.

The defendant is accused of striking Christine Lafferty multiple times in the face and head with a steel claw-type hammer at his residence shortly after 10 p.m. on Aug. 12. After the alleged attack, the victim, also a Gloucester Township resident, was admitted in critical condition to Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in Camden. She suffered severe head and face injuries in the assault.

Pine remains jailed at the Camden County Correctional Facility in Camden in lieu of $250,000 bail, cash or bond.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
