VINCENT P. SARUBBI, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA   INFORMATION

April 2, 2003

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi, Waterford Township Police Chief John Bekisz and NJ TRANSIT Police Chief Joseph Bober reported today that the death of a woman who was struck by an NJ TRANSIT train Wednesday has been ruled accidental.

Christina Woodall, 28, of the 400 block of Jackson Road in the Atco section of Waterford, was struck at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, by a southbound train on NJ TRANSIT's Atlantic City Line. The accident occurred on the tracks about 100 feet north of the Atco Avenue crossing in Waterford. The Camden County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death as blunt trauma to the head and the manner of death as accidental.

The investigation indicates the victim was sitting on the train tracks with a male friend and that they were consuming alcoholic beverages. When the train came around a bend in the tracks, the male was able to move out of the way in time but Woodall was not, according to the investigation. Toxicology tests on the victim are pending.

The train, with about 35 passengers, was heading from Philadelphia to Atlantic City.
