Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Camden Police Chief
Robert Allenbach announced that Mickle Faison, a.k.a. Gardell Hunt,
M/21, was charged today with Murder in connection with the fatal
shooting of Markquise Hill, M/16, on Nov. 25, 2002, in Camden, N.J.
The victim, of the 2500 block of Baird Boulevard in Camden, was
shot at approximately 7:43 p.m. as he walked in the 3000 block of
Benson Street. Camden County Medical Examiner Dr. Paul Hoyer determined
that the victim died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.
Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Chatten will recommend that Rolax,
of Oak Avenue in Lawnside, receive a sentence of five years in New
Jersey State Prison, including three years without parole eligibility,
when he is sentenced Feb. 28, 2003.
The defendant, whose last known address is in the 2900 block of
Benson Street, is being held in the Camden County Correctional Facility
in lieu of $400,000 bail. An arraignment for the defendant is scheduled
for approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, before
Presiding Criminal Court Judge Linda G. Baxter.
Sarubbi and Allenbach praised Senior Investigator Frank Falco of
the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and Camden Police Detective
Frank Ruiz, the lead investigators on the case, for their persistent
efforts to develop information about the circumstances that led
to the victim's death.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
