MEDIA   INFORMATION

January 15, 2003

Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi and Pennsauken Police Chief John J. Coffey announced that they are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a homicide victim found today in the Sunset Memorial Park on Union Avenue in Pennsauken.

The body of the victim, believed to be a light-skinned African American male in his early 20s, was discovered by a cemetery caretaker at approximately 9:11 a.m. today lying in the intersection of two unpaved cemetery roads. The victim had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities are withholding further information on the wound to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

The victim is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 165 pounds. He has the name "Chris" tattooed on his left shoulder in black, Old English lettering, i.e.: CHRIS.

The Prosecutor's Office has released a composite sketch of the victim and a photograph of a distinctive belt buckle he was wearing which bears the letter "C." Authorities hope someone will recognize the description and/or the images and contact police.

Anyone with information on the victim should call the Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit at (856) 225-8400 or Pennsauken Police at (856) 488-0080.
