The Camden County Board of Social Services is proud of its tradition of providing caring service and assistance to individuals and families in need in Camden County. The agency is committed to assisting its clients in breaking the cycle of welfare dependency to become self-sufficient members of the community.

  •    The Camden County Board of Social Services is accessible to disabled persons.
Business Hours:
  • Open weekdays 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Extended hours on Thursdays 7:30am-7:30pm
  • The Active Case Units, the Food Stamps/General Assistance Department and the General Assistance/Emergency Assistance Units are closed to the public on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 1:00pm
  • Closed weekends and major holidays

  • Fraud Hotline (856-225-8959): Any citizen may report instances of alleged welfare fraud to our investigators.

Child Support & Paternity
  • Services are available to all residents who receive public assistance

Medical Assistance
  • A variety of Medicaid and other Medical Assistance programs help needy individuals pay for medical services
  • These programs have different eligibility criteria and covered services

Financial Assistance
  • WorkFirst New Jersey (WFNJ) provides temporary financial assistance through two public assistance programs:
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) (Phone: 856-225-5143)
  • General Assistance (GA) Phone: (856-225-8800)
  • WorkFirst New Jersey Case Management (Phone: 856-225-8894)
Social Services Programs
  • A variety of social services are available to recipients of Work First New Jersey, Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Adult Services (Phone: 856-225-8140, 856-225-8210 or 856-225-8162)
  • Family Services (Phone: 856-225-8101 or 856-225-8167)
Food Stamps
  • A nutritional supplement program that increases the food purchasing power of low-income households
