Mrs. Goodfellow

Think Philadelphia’s reputation for excellent cuisine is a recent phenomenon? Think again! The first culinary school in the United States, established by Mrs. Elizabeth Goodfellow, was located there. Mrs. Goodfellow, who ran a bakery, confectionery, and small school to learn the art of cooking, was best known for her lemon and coconut pies. The food she served was remembered for years by those who tried it. Meet Mrs. Goodfellow, portrayed by Kim Hanley of the American Historical Theater, and learn about this amazing woman. Open house from 1 PM to 4 PM with a presentation at 2 PM.
