Constitution Day Lecture

Join The Center at Camden County College for a special Constitution Day Lecture on Monday, September 17th at 2 PM at Civic Hall.

The topic is “The Spare Tire on the Automobile of Government” and it will be led by Kelly Jackson. The Vice President of the United States is always one moment away from one of the most powerful positions in the world. Yet, in some ways the position gets little respect. John Adams said of the office that it was “The most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived.” The 25th Amendment actually gives the VP some power in the removal of the President from office. That same amendment was necessary to codify how the postion of VP is filled when vacant. This talk will focus on Vice Presidential power and why the 25th Amendment regarding Presidential succession was needed.
