Throughout the year, the Camden County Board of Freeholders recognizes Camden County’s finest citizens for a wide-range of accomplishments.
The annual Best of the Class celebrated and recognizes graduating seniors from every high school in Camden County. Every year, students and their parents attend a beautiful event where they are are honored in 7 different categories: Community Service, Leadership, Best Overall, Most Improved, Most Courageous, Performing Arts and School Spirit. The Camden County Sports Hall of Fame was formed in 2004 and honors local sports legends for the contributions to athletics. The annual event shines a spotlight on some of the best athletes in the county, some of which have gone on to play their respective games at the highest levels of competition. Camden County’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Medal is presented to county residents who have selflessly contributed their time and effort to better their community in conjunction with the goals of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Since the Freedom Medal was introduced in 2001, this prestigious award has been given to almost 1,200 of Camden County’s most deserving residents. In commemoration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Camden County Board of Freeholders hosts the annual Prominent Hispanic Awards. The award celebrate the rich and diverse Hispanic heritage while recognizing the tremendous contribution, dedication, and hard work of the many unsung Hispanic individuals. These worthy role models have contributed both time and effort, and made a valuable difference in the quality of life for all residents. Since 2003, Camden County has held a baseball and softball all-star game for graduating seniors from county high schools. Student athletes display their talents before continuing on to playing sports at the collegiate level. The baseball game is traditionally played on the Camden Waterfront at Campbell’s Field and the softball game is played at Eastern Regional High School’s AstroTurf softball field.
