Roadwork to Begin on Evesham Road June 3
After a tough winter, Camden County is undertaking a program of major road repairs and repaving initiatives that will span the rest of this year and part of 2011.“This week, we will begin the milling and resurfacing of Evesham Road,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “The county is doing major infrastructure and structural work—drainage, driveway apron and handicap access improvements—not just cosmetic repairs.”
Evesham Road will be milled and resurfaced from Springdale Road to the Burlington County line at Rt. 73. The roadwork on Evesham Road will begin on or about Thursday, June 3, 2010 and is scheduled to be completed by June 28th, weather permitting. The project will be between the hours of 6:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. During this period there will be two lanes of travel, one in each direction.
“Throughout the winter and spring rain and snow storms, Camden County’s Public Works Department has worked tirelessly to keep roads passable through the worst weather conditions,” said Leonard. “Now it is time to fix the damage from all that bad weather and it will take a comprehensive plan, several million dollars and some time to do the work.”
“We want Camden County residents to know what is happening and will keep them updated on our website, www.camdencounty.comand in print with how we are doing,” continued Leonard. “They can follow our work on a comprehensive location-by-location countywide map and with photos from various work sites that we will post online. We will introduce a comprehensive plan within the next several weeks.”
Residents can visit the county website to sign up for email updates on the road work that will include any temporary road closings or detour information.
