PSE&G provides $1 million grant to the CCMUA for geothermal project

The Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority (CCMUA) was awarded a $1 million grant from PSEG in January 2012 to implement a geothermal project at its wastewater treatment plant in Camden.  The project is expected to save the CCMUA about $80,000 per year in energy expenses by utilizing the natural green energy available from latent geothermal heat in order to reduce the need for conventional heating.

The CCMUA is the logical choice to serve as a pilot program for other wastewater treatment facilities as they have continually taken the lead on initiatives that protect the environment and promote new technologies.  This project furthers the Freeholder Board’s commitment to protecting the environment and promoting green initiatives.
