New Members Join the Camden County Human Relations Commission
Camden County Freeholder Jeffrey L. Nash welcomed the newly appointed and reappointed members of the Camden County Human Relations Commission on January 23, in Camden City Council Chambers.
"I congratulate and express my appreciation to this year's Officers and Commissioners,” said Freeholder Nash. “The leadership provided by the Camden County Human Relations Commission in promoting diversity and fostering the dialogue to increase mutual understanding across Camden County is to be commended.”
The mission of the Human Relations Commission is to improve human relations among the residents of Camden County regardless of race, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age and marital status.
A volunteer organization created by the Freeholder Board in 1992, the Commission is comprised of citizens of diverse backgrounds who reside or work in Camden County. The Commission makes recommendations to the Freeholder Board based upon the changing demographics of Camden County, and the ever increasing numbers of residents who represent a myriad of ethnicities.
The 2012 appointments are: Jamil Khan of Voorhees, David Snyder of Cherry Hill, Farhat Biviji of Cherry Hill, Tiffany Reid of Voorhees, Stella R. Sytnik of Voorhees, Khadija Begum of Berlin Township, Haci Kose of Cherry Hill, K.D. Patel of Cherry Hill, Anthony Poblador of Cherry Hill, Brett Waters of Voorhees, Constance Cotton of Voorhees and Linda Limcaco of Gloucester Township. Commission reappointments are: Aquil Khan of Voorhees, Melina Waldo of Haddonfield, Marilyn Torres of Camden, Gwen DeVera of Voorhees, Pauline Bey of Camden, Zahida Rahman of Voorhees, Carolyn Tyson of Gloucester Township, Dr. James Williams of Cherry Hill, Eugene Kent of Lindenwold, Luis Lopez of Camden, Habib Quraishi of Voorhees, Jim M. Peeler of Cherry Hill and Stephanie Fisher of Voorhees.
This year’s officers are: Eugene Kent, Chairperson; Gwen DeVera, Vice-Chairperson; Habib Quraishi, General Secretary; and, Stephanie Fisher, County Liaison.
The Camden County Human Relations Commission holds their monthly meetings on the 4thMonday of the month in different venues throughout the county in order to provide all residents with a greater opportunity to attend. These meetings include open discussions on topics including education, economics, and local government.
