Camden County Freeholder Deputy Director Ed McDonnell toured Renaissance Marble and Granite on July 29 with representatives from Camden County College and the state. Renaissance Marble and Granite, of Gloucester Township, participates Camden County College’s New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) Basic Skills Training Program. This is the fourth year of the program which has helped nearly 1,000 companies statewide boost productivity while improving the skills of approximately 10,000 of their employees.“The program was developed by the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development in partnership with the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development,” said Freeholder McDonnell. “Its programming is delivered by community colleges at no charge to participating companies.”
Courses run for 12 months and provide literacy and basic skills instruction in a number of subjects. These include English as second language; written, verbal and customer-relations communication; mathematics and measurement; and basic computer applications, including Windows, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
