Closures Due to Power Outages
Camden County College has canceled all classes and activities on its Blackwood Campus today due to an ongoing power outage. The Southern Regional Branch of the Camden County Library System in Winslow Township is also closed today due to lack of electricity at the facility. Other locations of the college and library are open today.
Severe thunderstorms ripped through Camden County duirng the late afternoon and early evening of June 24, causing downed trees and power lines, interrupting electric and Internet service. The southern part of the county, including the Atco section of Waterford Township and Waterford Works in Winslow Township, reported a lot of tree damage. Camden County's Public Works Department worked on the damage, and with the power companies -- PSEG and Atlantic City Electric- to remove trees from roads.
"The Camden County Public Works Department worked through the night to remove debris and clear roads," said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. "People should not drive over downed wires or try to remove trees or debris themselves. They can report any storm-related road problems to Public Works at (856) 566-2980, or they can call their local police department."
