Camden County Provides Restaurant and Cafeteria Inspection Results Online

Camden County is first in state to post actual inspection reports online.  To view them, go to www.camdencounty.com.

“This initiative puts Camden County on the leading edge of our technology and strengthens our commitment to protecting the health and welfare of our community,” said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services.  “While several states, including Pennsylvania, have posted this information online, Camden County is the first in New Jersey to provide this information online.”

Health Department inspectors now utilize a new electronic process to record the information.  This has increased the efficiency and effectiveness of the food inspection process.  It uses standardized language and methods to report food protection results.  Previously, restaurant inspections were conducted using a paper form process.

Currently, 75 percent of the restaurants and cafeterias in Camden County are listed on the website.  Ultimately, every restaurant will be posted and inspected once a year.  Based upon state guidelines, restaurants will be rated satisfactory or unsatisfactory.

“It will also report the standards that the establishment has successfully met as well as any violations noted at the time of inspection.  This will make the inspection report clearer for both operators and consumers,” Freeholder Rodriguez added.

In addition to the restaurant inspections, reports also will be posted for all school cafeterias and other food-handling enterprises in Camden County, totaling approximately 3,500 establishments.

Last year, inspectors of the Camden County Division of Health began recording their retail food inspection findings using an electronic inspection program designed and managed by Garrison Enterprises.  Using a Tablet PC to complete the State mandated inspection checklist, inspectors report the compliance status of the retail food establishment observed at the time of the inspection.
