Broadway Detour Begins Sept. 29
(September 25, 2015) - A portion of Broadway (CR 551) in Camden City will be detoured beginning the morning of Sept. 29 to accommodate the roadway reconstruction. This project will be ongoing, realigning the corridor and updating the aging infrastructure in South Camden portion of the roadway. Commuters and residents should seek alternate routes that are listed in the detour around the area. The construction will take place from Morgan Boulevard to Woodland Avenue and will close the small portion of the corridor for at least year.
Vehicles traveling from Camden City toward Gloucester City will be directed off of Broadway at Morgan Boulevard. Motorists can take Morgan Boulevard to 676 to 130 to Market Street in Gloucester City that will bring them back to Broadway. Cars traveling from Gloucester City to Camden City should turn off of Broadway at Market Street and proceed to 130 where they can take 676 to the Morgan Boulevard exit in Camden City to return to Broadway. An alternant truck-only route has been established for large commercial vehicles to access the South Jersey Port.
“Please allow yourself extra time to reach your destination when traveling through this area,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “Whenever you are driving through a road construction zone, please prepare for traffic pattern changes, and be observant of posted instructions or directions”
