(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Susan Shin-Angulo was notified today by the Merchantville- Pennsauken Water Commission that it will be replacing a large water main on Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill beginning at the end of July. The project will commence July 31 and the road will be closed between Magnolia and Monroe Avenue. This roadwork may cause extra congestion during rush hour traffic in the morning and afternoon.

“Motorists need to be mindful of the construction crews working in the roadway and look for alternate routes that bypass this location.” said Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “Throughout the day, while driving along Chapel Avenue, please stay prepared for traffic pattern changes and sudden stops. If you plan on driving through the area give yourself extra time to get to your destination.”

Westbound traffic will be detoured while construction is ongoing. Eastbound lanes will remain open. Two-way traffic will be open in the evening after construction hours. Motorists will be directed by posted signage to utilize Church Road, Haddonfield Road, Kaighns Avenue, Cuthbert Boulevard, and others as detour routes.

During this time NJ Transit Bus Route No. 405 will not operate via Chapel Avenue between Maple Avenue and Haddonfield Road. Residents who expect to utilize public transit during this time can find the relevant details regarding stops that will not be made, and where to find alternative stops, by following this link to NJ Transit’s webpage: http://www.njtransit.com/sa/sa_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=ServiceAdjustmentTo&AdjustmentId=16199.

At this juncture construction is slated to be completed on December 4, but could be extended depending on weather conditions and other unforeseen variables.
