CCWIB Annual Meeting


Camden County Workforce Investment Board Hosts Camden County Business Forum

The Camden County Business Leaders Forum was held on January 27th
at the Camden County One Stop Career Conference Center .

The goal of this initiative is to provide leaders of the business community with an
opportunity to learn how their company might partner with members
of the faith-based community to benefit their company, their workforce, and their county.

Mr. Edward LaPorte, Executive Director of the State of New Jersey Office of
Faith Based-Initiatives shared with the more than 100 business and faith based leaders,
the vision for developing business and faith based agency partnership.
These partnerships are seen as a potential method
for Camden County Company’s to meet their employment needs.


Mr. LaPorte stated that his departments’ objective is to provide faith-based
organizations with connections to resources and funding opportunities.
He encouraged Faith-Based attendees to become part of a collaborative that
addresses the same issues they do in their faith based communities.
He encouraged the private sector

Sherie Jenkins, from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce
Development’s Division of Business Services. Ms. Jenkins revealed the results
of a study done by the NJDOLWD which concluded
that Faith Based agencies are the best providers of social services.
She stated literacy is fundamental to the success of an individual regardless of the
employment opportunity. She encouraged attendees to utilize the services of the Department
of Labor and Workforce Development’s Business Services at the
Camden County One Stop Career Center . Services at the center include meeting room
space, state of the art business equipment, classroom training space for more than 50 people,
on-site interviews, assistance with job fairs, and customized training programs.

Camden County Workforce Investment Board Annual Meeting Held
Camden County Construction Projects Highlighted

The Camden County Workforce Investment Board held it’s 15th annual meeting on November 17th at the Camden County One Stop Conference Center 2600 Mt Ephraim Avenue, Camden New Jersey.

The meeting included a panel discussion and update on two of Camden counties major construction and improvement projects, The Garden State Park and the “Strategic Plan for Economic Development” as set forth by the Borough of Clementon. The panel discussion was moderated by John J. Matheussen, CEO of the Delaware River Port Authority. Panel members included The Honorable Mark Armbruster, Mayor of Clementon, The Honorable Bernie Platt, Mayor of Cherry Hill, Jeff Swartz, Executive Director of the Camden County Improvement Authority, and Jeff Lucas, President of Lucas & Company.
