Description:
Merchantville's Town Centre East redevelopment project will convert a downtown parking lot and neighboring properties into two mixed-use residential / commercial structures on the east side of Centre Street. The project will provide structured parking for tenants, workers and visitors to the Borough's downtown district, and additional market-rate housing to encourage a more vibrant downtown neighborhood environment. The project design and architectural features will be compatible with Merchantville's historic building fabric. Attention to pedestrian-level details and walkability are also important features. Merchantville's rails-to-trails greenway is to continue through the site, which still includes the historic railroad station. Town Centre East complements the earlier Chestnut Station infill redevelopment project, which brought 74 senior units to the west side of Centre Street.
