Camden County's Health and Administrative Campus, also known as Lakeland, is a complex of county offices and facilities services located in a beautifully secluded section of Gloucester Township. Much of the campus property is former farmfields and woodlands used where the former county hospital and almshouse produced its food and fuel. The area around the complex, however, has developed into suburbs with densities reaching ten units per acre. Through its facility modernization program, Camden County expects to consolidate its operations leaving large sections of the campus available for redevelopment. The site, which ideal for senior housing, neighborhood retail, medical and office uses, is midway between freeway Routes 42 and 55 and Gloucester and Camden counties' community colleges.
